In circle time this week the children have been learning the days of the week and how to express what the weather is like. As we got better at this we introduced tenses - past, present and future:
Yesterday was Monday.
Today is Tuesday
Tomorrow will be Wednesday
We have also started to look at our current unit and this week we focused on houses in different regions. To start, we explored our own house and compared it to houses in England. Here we noticed the size difference and the children learnt how this was due to China having more people.
In group time we drew our houses, trying to reflect the size and shape of them. As the week progressed we made 3D models of them to display in class.
We started exploring houses from other regions, getting the children to think about where these houses are from, who lives there and what shapes and patterns they can see.
In group time we were drawing houses from different regions.
Some of us even started to try to make them!
In Chinese circle time, Phoebe has been taking us on a journey through Tibet. We have been learning about the culture and lifestyle and had fun trying a dance from the region.
In group time the children made traditional necklaces too.
On Wednesday we had our crazy picnic which was filled with fun, laughter and plenty of snacks, dancing and singing!
Dancing has featured heavily this week and we created a corner in the classroom for the children to watch and dance to music from around the world.
This is proving to be very popular!
In skills time we have been continuing to practice our letter sounds and blending. We have even started reading stories!
To finish the week the dentists were in school on Friday teaching us about our teeth and how to keep them healthy.
We all had a checkup in the afternoon to help make sure our teeth were clean and healthy!
Remember to brush twice a day!! 😊
