DAY 3
On the third day of our Immersion Experiences, we came to the Administrative and Cultural District of Singapore in the morning. Some students said that the buildings here look very retro and beautiful. Along the way, the students took pictures to have a portfolio of this beautiful place. We were impressed by the Raffles' Landing site and the huge Merlion. Knowing the relevant stories of this iconic sites makes learning rather enjoyable.

研学第三天上午，同学们来到了新加坡行政文化区，大家都被眼前复古、漂亮的建筑吸引了，纷纷拿出相机，记录下这美丽的地方。令同学们印象较为深刻的是莱佛士遗址和鱼尾狮，大家了解了这些标志性建筑的相关故事，这个过程可谓是在享受中学习。

史丹福莱佛士（Sir Stamford Raffles)
新加坡的近代史肇始于1819年1月29日，史丹福·莱佛士代表英国东印度公司登陆新加坡，与柔佛苏丹订约，开始在新设立贸易站。 1824年，两项新条约使新加坡正式成为英国属土，成为英在远东的转口贸易商埠和在东南亚的主要军事基地。

新加坡的官方语言有四种：华语、英语、马来语和淡米尔语。英语是新加坡的共同语言，也是中立语言，不会出现民族之间的语言地位之争，也有利于国家意识的建立；同时考虑到英国曾统治新加坡近140年，英语是一直是行政、法律、商业和社会活动中的工作语言，也是不同种族人民之间的沟通和交流的基础；此外英语是国际共同语言，是国际商贸中最有效的交流工具。

SINGAPURA
Today we took a look at some of the iconic places of modern Singapore. A relatively unknown site most tourists would give a miss is the actual landing site of Singapore's Founder, Sir Stamford Raffles.
He was here more than 200 years ago when Singapore was a swampy little island inhabitated by the orang laut, or the sea people. Raffles believed that this little island could be an important port for Great Britain. It was Raffles' clear vision that helped build modern Singapore.
Like Raffles, we realise the importance of having a clear vision of our future. To realise their potential, the local folks in old Singapore needed to learn a new language, the English Language, a language that opened doors to more learning and opportunities.
Like olden days Singapore, our Sino-Sin Classes focus our attention on mastering the English Language as well. With both the Chinese and English languages, we have many windows of opportunities from all over the world to choose from.

神话之旅 — 鱼尾狮公园 （Merlion Park)
半鱼半狮的鱼尾狮是新加坡的标志，它就坐落于滨海湾的鱼尾狮公园。

鱼尾狮的鱼尾身代表新加坡曾经是座渔村，当时新加坡被称为淡马锡，与马来语中表示“湖泊”意思的“tasek”一词词根相同。
鱼尾狮的狮头代表新加坡的原名“Singapura”（梵文中狮城的意思）。传说，苏门答腊巨港王子桑尼拉乌他玛 (Sang Nila Utama) 在出海时遭遇风暴，意外登陆新加坡。
在新加坡河河口处，这位王子看到了一只奇特的生物，他认定是一头狮子，所以称新加坡为狮城

超市体验：新加坡职工总会旗下的职总超市 （NTUC FAIRPRICE)
孩子们自行进入超市挑选商品，商品的标签是全英文，收银员都是印度籍、马来籍。在整个购物过程中，孩子们课堂所学的英语就派上了用场。这次体验让孩子们沉浸式学习英语的同时，也在锻炼了他们独立生活的能力，培养孩子们的理财思维。

科学馆进行DNA课程
下午，同学们来到了科学馆进行DNA课程，这次课程是有关于案件类的。从进入情景开始，同学们跟着老师给出的案件进行分析，大家想法各不相同，最后他们通过实验，每个人动手操作，小组相互帮助，得到了统一的结果，抓住了“凶手”，同学们都非常有成就感。紧接着，他们又通过小实验，清晰的看到了自己的指纹。科学是马虎不得的，这项活动，也让同学们体验到了严谨求实的科学精神。

Visit to the Singapore Science Centre - Investigative Inquiry
The new world belongs to those who learn by asking questions, not those who can provide correct answers. Any search engine can provide the right answers.

A person who has an inquiry mindset knows how to ask the right questions. She can continually sharpen her search and focus. A questioning mind seeks clarity and avoid useless and unnecessary data. An inquiring mind continually learns till the problem is solved.

The new world of learning focuses on the process of thinking, not just the destination of getting correct answers. New questions lead to new learning, new knowledge, new discoveries, new inventions, and new innovations. Focusing just on getting correct answers to old questions slows and stagnates the mind to learning new skills.

Have you asked a question today? We teach our pupils to be curious and excited about learning new things. We encourage ourpupils to seek to understand. No question is a stupid question. Every Sino-Sin pupil is courageous to ask any question.
