Here’s a riddle for you: An invisible line divides it into the upper and bottom half. It's cold in both ends yet hot in the middle.It rotates once per day and night. Do you know what it is? Yes! It’s the Earth.On the Earth there are plenty of countries. But how many can you name them and how much do you know about them?
Aiming at stimulating the interest of learning English, Shenzhen Yaohua Elementary School, by merging English with Geography, initiated a group activity to introduce countries that students know of or are mostly interested in.
Students in grade 3 co-worked together in groups of 4 or 5. They created multiple amazing mind maps or posters of the countries. Let’s take a look at the outstanding work first.
先来猜猜小谜语：上一半，下一半，中间有线看不见，两头寒中间热，一天一夜转一圈。(打一自然物)你能猜出是什么吗？对啦！它就是我们的地球啦。 地球上有很多国家，但你对它们又知之多少，了解多少呢？为了激发学生学习英语的热情，深圳耀华实验学校以英语和地理的学科融合模式，组织了一场小组合作英语活动，为学生们提供舞台，介绍他们了解或感兴趣的国家。
耀华实验学校的三年级小朋友们四或五人一小组，团队合作，创绘出美妙绝伦的国家思维导图和海报。下面我们先一起来欣赏这些优秀作品吧～
And we also have some scrapbooks in show. Students cooperate with each other, to draw, cut, stick and write.我们也通过剪贴画的形式来展示国家的介绍。小朋友们通过小组合作，一人画，一人剪，一人贴，一人写来共同创作。
The mind maps our students drew present to us the general introduction of countries. We can see the creativeness in their designs.三年级的小朋友用思维导图为我们展示了国家的整体介绍，从形状各异的思维导图中也能看出我们小朋友的创造力非凡。

They are fabulous, aren't they? By doing the group work project together, students discussed with each other, brainstormed for the topic and created their own excellent work. Their enthusiasm in English has been largely aroused. Besides, they also have learnt to talk about Geography in English.This activity has been welcomed by students of grade 3.
