Xiaofu River, the second longest river in Zibo, is 135.9 kilometers long. It covers an area of 1,705 square kilometers. It starts from Boshan District, and then runs through Zichuan, Zhangdian, Zhoucun. Finally it becomes two branches in Zouping. For hundreds of years, it has played a very important role in local people’s life.
However, the river hasn’t been so clean. In fact, forty years ago, the Xiaofu River was quite beautiful, and we could see many kinds of fish in the river, and there were lots of plants on both sides of the river. It showed the beauty of the original ecology. But twenty years ago, the river turned yellow and had a bad smell.We couldn’t see the fish and there were many rubbish in the river. Because of the help of government. Now, the Xiaofu River is so beautiful again, and everyone wants to live near the river.
We have done so much work to protect the environment! The government made laws to stop factories from pooring polluted water into the river.
What’ more the government also built a park named Xiaofu RIver Wetland Park to let more people know about it and enjoy culture experiencing activities. As students, what should we do? We can be volunteers to help protect the environment by classifying rubbish, making videos and records to encourage more people to protect the environment of Xiaofu River and the environment of Zibo together.
