There is always a magical experience in a beautiful spring.
🐰We started the morning off with a powerpoint that had Easter themed pictures – the main themes of Easter are centered on the Easter bunny who shows up every year one Sunday in March or April. The Easter bunny runs around the yard hiding eggs every where, in trees, in bushes, underwater, etc.
🥚On Easter morning, children will get a basket to decorate and then later that afternoon when the Easter bunny has come and hidden all of the eggs, the children will run around outside looking everywhere for the eggs that they can put in their baskets. We talked about how the eggs aren’t normally real eggs, they are made of plastic, and inside of them the kids can find candy, or chocolate, or even money, depending on what the Easter bunny decides to do.
🥚We sang a song about the Easter bunny – it’s a simple song that just gives the children some new ways and words to describe animals – the bunny has floppy ears and a fluffy tail- as well as letting them practice spelling out the name.
🐰For a game, we did an indoor Easter Egg Hunt where the teachers hid the pictures of the eggs the students drew around the room and the students would go in pairs to try to find some. When they found one somewhere in the classroom, they could say “Teacher, I found an egg!” and it also gave them a chance to practice their listening of location words: “Is there an egg under the chair?”, “Is there an egg on the shelf”, etc.
🥚We went outside after the game and with the baby class, we decorated some Easter eggs using the flower petals and grass around the playground. They could stick it to their egg, and at the end of recess we went back inside and hung them around the classroom.
🥚In the afternoon we did a couple of arts and crafts projects. The baby class was able to color different Easter related pictures – some with Easter bunnies, some with Easter chicks, and some with Easter eggs that they got to decorate. The big class got to color and make Easter bunny hats. After they finished decorating their hats, we helped them cut the hats out and glue them together so that they could wear them outside for afternoon recess.
🐰During afternoon play time, the big students got to play hide and seek with the Easter eggs they made, but they got to play it outside this time. Student volunteers would hide the eggs around the playground while the other students would keep their eyes shut, and then when all the eggs were hidden the class could run around the playground looking for the eggs. They got to learn the phrase ‘no peeking’ and they got to keep practicing the English from earlier in the day when we did the indoor Easter hide and seek.
