Unit3 My school calendar
I. Objectives
1. Enable students to understand the story content and extract key information.
2. Encourage students to develop reading comprehension skills through predicting, scanning, and inferring.

4. Enhance cultural awareness through understanding school traditions and activities.
II. Materials
1. Textbook
2. Multimedia presentation (including pictures and videos related to school events)

III. Procedure
Step 1: Lead-in (5 minutes)
1. Show pictures of various school events and ask students to guess what they are.
2. Discuss their own school calendar and events.
3. Introduce the topic of the story and its connection to the unit theme.
(Design Intention: To engage students’ interest by connecting to their own experiences and previewing the content of the story.)
Step 2: Pre-reading Activities (5 minutes)
1. Discuss the title and cover of the story, predicting what it might be about.
2. Ask students to brainstorm words or phrases related to school events.
(Design Intention: To activate students’ prior knowledge and generate excitement for the story.)
Step 3: Reading the Story (10 minutes)
1. Read the story aloud to the class, emphasizing key vocabulary and expressions.
2. Pause at intervals to ask comprehension questions and discuss the plot.
3. Encourage students to use context clues to understand unfamiliar words.
(Design Intention: To model fluent reading, build comprehension, and develop vocabulary skills.)
Step 4: Post-reading Activities (10 minutes)
1. Ask students to work in pairs and answer comprehension questions on the worksheet.
2. Discuss the answers and ask students to share their thoughts on the story’s moral or lesson.
3. Role-play a scene from the story to reinforce understanding and speaking skills.
4. Summarize the key points of the lesson and the story’s moral.
(Design Intention: To consolidate understanding, enhance speaking skills, and promote critical thinking.)
Step 5: Extension Activity (5 minutes)
1. Ask students to create a timeline of their own school calendar, including important events and activities.
2. Encourage them to share their time lines with the class.
3. Encourage students to continue reading and exploring different stories.

IV. Homework

本节课的设计注重学生的主体性和实践性，通过故事的方式，将学校日历的相关内容融入到生动有趣的情境中，让学生在轻松愉快的氛围中学习英语，提高口语表达能力和合作能力。同时，通过大单元教学整合，帮助学生形成对知识的整体理解，提高学习效果。本次教学活动整体效果良好，学生在活动中积极参与，表现出了浓厚的学习兴趣。但在教学过程中，我也发现了一些需要改进的地方。
首先，关于教学方法的选择与运用。在本次教学中，我采用了小组讨论、角色扮演等多样化的教学方法，旨在提高学生的口语表达能力和合作能力。这些活动确实在一定程度上激发了学生的学习兴趣，但也存在一些问题。例如，在小组讨论中，部分学生的参与度不高，缺乏积极的互动；在角色扮演中，有些学生的表现过于拘谨，难以真正投入到角色中。针对这些问题，我认为在今后的教学中，应更加注重学生的个体差异，设计更符合学生实际的教学活动，同时加强对学生的引导和鼓励，激发他们的学习热情。
其次，我还需要反思教学过程中的师生互动。在教学过程中，我尽量保持与学生的良好互动，通过提问、引导等方式激发学生的学习兴趣。然而，我也意识到，在某些时候，我的引导还不够到位，没有充分激发学生的思维火花。
另外，在大单元教学整合环节，我发现学生对于单元主题的理解还不够深入。在今后的教学中，我需要更加注重单元内容的整合与联系，帮助学生形成对知识的整体认知。
